What we offer:

At the Community Homework & After School Program, students arrive and spend a little time relaxing during free play time. This is followed by a nutritious snack. Homework is a priority and we have a committed, talented team of employees and volunteers that are specially trained to help students with schoolwork assignments. Over the course of the program season, each student is guided through a range of education, enrichment and recreation activities. CHAP partners and collaborates with parents, schools, community organizations and individuals to provide students with diverse and meaningful learning experiences.

Our Goals are:
•

To create a positive learning environment through activities that connects each child to his/her school, family and community.

•

To help parents develop everyday strategies to enrich learning at home.

CHAP offers programming that is fun and creative, while promoting student
•

social and physical wellness

•

Skills and development

•

Academic success

•

Inclusiveness

Student progress is regularly monitored and provided by trained staff and volunteers with up-to-date reports and consistent feedback.

Registration & Family Participation

Families with children interested in joining our Community Homework & After School Program are invited to contact the CHAP Coordinator at: 613-932-7161 or

email us at: tri-countyliteracy@on.aibn.com

Registration is ongoing throughout the season as need and available space allow.
We will do our best to accommodate your child at one of our community locations.

The program is free of charge to families. However, program funding will only continue as long as families/guardians of our students play an active, supportive role in CHAP.
For example, joining us for a Family activity/event once or twice a month is one way of participating. Helping us with a CHAP fundraiser is another. Family engagement no matter what form it takes is an important component of all After School programs. We understand that growing families have busy schedules. Yet even in small ways, there are many opportunities to be part of your child’s learning. To this end, we are always open to discussions on what makes the best sense of your time, skills and talents.

And, please keep in mind, that if as a parent you need help with basic skills, including computers, Tri-County Literacy can help you. Call us at 613-932-7161.

Our newest CHAP site, sponsored by Christ Church Anglican in Long Sault, will run every Thursday from 2:15 to 4:30 pm. Thanks to this community group’s efforts,
participating CHAP students from this area will have spacious, kid-friendly rooms to work and play in. We invite all families to explore this After School opportunity under development in their neighbourhood.
